Dr. Stephan Praet is a Dutch Sport and Exercise Physician, with registration both in the Netherlands, Australia and Dubai (UAE). He is adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Canberra Research Institute for Sport and Exercise (UCRISE).
From April 2015-September 2017 Dr. Praet worked at the Australian Institute of Sport. Dr. Praet now works in private practice for OCHRE Health, at the University of Canberra Health Hub, Bruce, ACT.
On a fortnightly basis he will be working as a visiting doctor for UPANDRUNNING Sports Medical Center, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Dr. Praet holds a PhD in Clinical Exercise Physiology from Maastricht University, The Netherlands and he is a Fellow of the European Board of Sports Medicine (FEBSM) as well as the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (FACSEP).
As a Sport and Exercise Physician Dr. Praet possesses specialist expertise in general medicine, orthopaedics, radiology and rehabilitation plus allied sport sciences including nutrition, biomechanics, exercise physiology and sports psychology.
Both at Ochre Medical Centre, Bruce, ACT and UPANDRUNNING Sports Medical Center, Dubai, UAE, Dr. Praet is offering the complete array of sports medicine services and tests to athletes with musculoskeletal injuries or concussion symptoms, those who are intolerant to exercise due to a chronic disease or cancer treatment, those seeking a pre-participation screening before starting high-intensity or competitive sport activities, as well as developing or high-performance athletes.
Australian residents will need a referral from a medical practitioner (e.g. your GP) if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate, as Medicare will not pay rebates without a valid referral. The referral needs to indicate the problem you are being referred for. You can also attend appointments without a referral but may not get any money refunded from Medicare.
